Erik didn't grow up around horses but came to love the sport of chuckwagon racing by first getting involved with helping as a barn hand. The chuckwagon sport got in his blood and he now lives and breathes horses and chuckwagons. He started out racing pony chariots and wagons then made the jump up to the WCA in 2010, where he drove a thoroughbred chariot first to gain experience. In the spring of 2012 he made the jump to wagons. Erik has proved to be a competitive addition to the WCA with consistent placings in the top 1/3 of the standings and multiple day money finishes. In 2016 Erik finished his season strong by winning both the John Neilson Memorial dash in Grande Prairie and the Dawson Creek Dash for Cash. In 2018 Erik focused on training young horses and building a strong barn. It paid off with multiple top 3 runs. He is hopeful for a equally competitive season in 2019.
Erik attributes his success to some amazing sponsors, a lot of excellent horse power and solid barn help. Erik has a passion for the sport. He is a competitor to watch out for as he aims for the top of the standings. He has thrived on training his own horses the past few years. Erik has a sharp, attractive wagon great for advertising your company. He feels it is a honor to showcase his sponsor's tarp at Chuckwagon shows in the Peace Country region.
